The Band
Aurah’s Marc Dold & Judith Martin met as teenagers in the dusky basement rehearsal rooms of the local music scene in Switzerland where they grew up. Martin went on to study jazz while Dold earned a degree in classical guitar from a Swiss conservatory. Soon after, they left Europe for Boston where they furthered their studies at the Berklee College of Music. Dold and Martin formed Aurah after the release of their first album, “Judith Martin.” Around the same time, Dold joined forces with an American music producer to form the producing team, Swiss American Federation (SAF). The team scored two #1 Billboard hits with Enya’s “Only Time,” which became a 9/11 anthem, and Celine Dion’s “A New Day Has Come,” the title of her Las Vegas show and album.
Aurah’s music capitalizes on Dold’s production skills, which are heavily influenced by both his classical training and his experience with producing and remixing electronic and dance music for major artists such as Paul Van Dyke, Peter Gabriel, Nelly Furtado, Basement Jaxx and Far East Movement. Aurah’s signature sound builds with a steady, vibrating pulse that expands with layer upon layer of harmonic exploration. The layering effect creates a marriage between sound and space, an otherworldly experience that envelopes the senses and soothes the nervous system. Interwoven between the fusion of Dold’s ambient, textural guitar stylings and Martin’s haunting vocals is the echo of ancient cultures; influences of world music mixed with modern electronica. Anchored at the core of Aurah’s music is an underlying beat; a recurring mantra that encourages listeners to glide into a tranquil, hypnotic zone. Their music invites listeners on an odyssey through soundscapes that illuminate the imagination with visuals.
